Mark Fidel, Principal
Mark Fidel is a former litigator who founded Applied Records Management in 2004. He is a popular speaker at legal conferences across the Southwest. His lectures on document life cycle management and the Fair & Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) are attended by lawyers, accountants, bankers, and HR executives as part of continuing education programs offered by Lorman Educational Services, the New Mexico Bar Association and other professional groups. Mr. Fidel is also a visiting professor at New Mexico Highlands University, where he teaches both graduate and undergraduate classes in business law, financial management, and business ethics.
Mark Fidel has developed a broad range of executive skills in many industries, including manufacturing, high tech, and academia. He is familiar with corporate directives and strategic planning for companies ranging in size from small software start-ups to independent insurance agencies to major multi-national corporations.
Mr. Fidel began his career selling commercial insurance, then held a series of financial positions at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, including managing the payroll for over 1,000 full- and part-time employees and acting as the federal contracts compliance officer supervising the school's grants requirements. He worked for the Intel Corporation as a capital analyst in a small manufacturing division, where he worked closely with the engineering staff to develop solutions to manufacturing bottlenecks, and as a senior financial analyst specializing in fixed asset accounting with responsibilities to Intel's worldwide operations.
Mr. Fidel worked for several start-up software companies, including brainplay.com that was eventually acquired by KB Toys, where he was responsible for fixed asset accounting and anti-fraud efforts in regards to credit card sales. He applied the same expertise for Solant, purchased by Avolent, a software company that developed financial applications for Internet companies.
After passing the bar in New Mexico in 2002, Mr. Fidel became an associate at one of New Mexico's largest law firms, Modrall Sperling, where he specialized in commercial litigation.
Mr. Fidel holds a Bachelor of Arts and Economics degree with a major in Finance from New Mexico State University. He earned an Executive MBA from the University of New Mexico and a law degree from the University of Denver. He is a licensed, non-practicing member of the bar in New Mexico.
